The ratings board is up Harvey Weinstein’s ass again. First of all, let me say that almost 100% of the time, The Movie Guys are gonna side with a movie in any argument. And so it is with the decision by the MPAA to give the documentary “Bully” an R rating. Weinstein is standing up against the decision, a decision that would keep the film from playing to teens for whom it would be most effective. It’s a doc showing bullies in schools, and yes they use rough language. So do bullies in schools. Harvey is a true mogul and will no doubt go down as a legend for his hands-on involvement with his films, and he should! He fought (and won) for “Blue Valentine”‘s R rating, he fought (and lost) for “The King’s Speech”‘s PG-13 (it’s ridiculous that that film is rated R), and I hope he wins here so the film can be the most powerful it can be. Go get ’em.
