It’s hard to believe anything bad could be said about Peter Jackson’s upcoming “Hobbit” films, but apparently ten minutes of footage that debuted at Las Vegas’ CinemaCon this week wasn’t greeted with the love an admiration the first three Tolkein films were. Apparently it’s because of technology trying to catch up to ambition. Jackson is shooting at 48 frames per second, twice the speed of a normal film’s frame rate. He believes that will make the 3D look more amazing than ever. His full rebuttal to critics is in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Never one to shy away from the newest PIXAR news, “Toy Story 3” director Lee Unkrich is on board to head up a production based on the Mexican holiday “Dia De Los Muertos”. This is adding to a fuller and fuller Pixar production schedule. Woohoo!

Dolby Sound Labs have been working on new sound technique for theaters that would have the sound not only on your left and right through the speakers on the walls, but sound coming from ABOVE as well, so the whole cacophony of noise is more realistic than ever.
