Once a year or so, former way-awesome actor and kick-ass director Mel Gibson has to find himself in the news for all the wrong reasons. He’s again in the news not for a the number one film at the box office or for an award-winning film. Now his latest project about the 2nd Century Jewish Maccabee revolt has had the plug pulled on it. Certainly an odd choice to begin with for Mel, whose anti-Semitic rants have been well documented. But now there’s a full-on fight between Mel and writer Joe Eszterhas (as the writer of “Showgirls” and “Sliver” – also a stranger hiring…). Read THIS article, then just start Googling this to read all the nasty (awesome) back and forth.

For those of you waiting patiently for a “Sin City” sequel for seven years now, you’ll finally get it. THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER says that financing has been secured for “A Dame to Kill For”. Director Robert Rodriguez says they were waiting for just the right material to one-up the original. I’ve always thought “Sin City” was one of Rodriguez’s best films, rarely slipping into the excess that bogs down some of his work. A return to this world is good in my book.
