Paul Preston’s ongoing effort to watch a movie a day for the rest of his life. Today’s movie – “Somewhere in Time”.
The Movie Guys preview “Doctor Strange”, “Hacksaw Ridge” & “Trolls”. Also, announcer on CBS’ “Let’s Make a Deal”, Jonathan Mangum, stops by The Showcast with stories from the set and the road.
Ep. 158: Tons of jokes (perhaps too many) about this week’s new releases, The Secret Life of Pets and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, also a mashup look at The Secret Life of Zac Efron. Plus, The Movie Guys are joined all episode long by TV actor Kurt Scholler, whose improv troupe, The Resistance, performs an improvised movie every week at the ioWest Theater in Hollywood.
Showcast Episode 112: It’s a big weekend of new films as The Movie Guys preview “Fantastic Four”, “Ricki and The Flash”, “The Gift” and “Shaun the Sheep: The Movie”. Then it’s off to Hollywood for a live broadcast from The 13th Annual Los Angeles Improv Comedy Festival and a funny and candid roundtable with actor Joel Murray about the new documentary “I Am Chris Farley” with plenty of great stories about the late comedian.
Showcast Episode 100: The Movie Guys celebrate one hundred episodes of The Movie Showcast! Stand-up comic Jeffrey Baldinger sits in the whole show with house band The Boobé Sisters. New releases “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Pitch Perfect 2” get the preview treatment, plus The Boobés fire up a round of “Name That Movie” with classic film music, plus a clip retrospective a la ’70s sitcoms.
Overall, this Irish indie film is charming and full of love. If you enjoyed “The Full Monty” and “Waking Ned Devine”, then this is one to find and enjoy.
