This movie had no shot.
Bank robberies, cops on the trail, open carry – all sounds like the formula for an action film, but Hell or High Water gets more mileage out of dialogue, strong character and anticipation of violence.
The film goes just far enough with its take on a woman-with-a-gun storyline, any further and you dip into “Bad Girls” territory and the strong female leads become too jokey.
I’m never one to seek out the work of children in movies. But something’s happened in the last five years or so…there’s a consistency in the air that has me hopeful.
Why is it that many times (too many, actually), movie titles are horribly translated in other languages? Of course I don’t have an answer – but…it’s not like a song by Bruce Springsteen gets translated, right?
